Let’s dance to this, you and I.

[[[ It’s probably because I just saw a bunch of movie clips from foreign films and somehow managed to watch parts of “The Good, the Bad, and the Beautiful”, but my brain gets this huge backstory montage-thing. In the beginning I see little Josephine growing up in a dusty town in the middle of nowhere, taking a walk in the desert and getting lost, and walking alone in the midst of a ton of cacti until someone comes up on a horse— she’s scared of him but she charms him so she can get back to town before she gets in trouble— and then halfway through the song I see a bunch of scenes where she’s in seedy places like saloons and working her charms on other men, but in some parts the edges of the images are foggy so that all I see is Josephine’s eyes, and they become emptier and more desperate as the song continues… But then I get mixed images of her sitting alone on a bed in a candlelit room with black vine/tendril things snaking around her, and they become entangled in her hair — and suddenly it’s daytime and she’s holstering a pistol in her garter, putting her dress on and leaving the room, closing the door behind her. The music never swells into a huge climax but it flows onward, maturing and becoming more dramatic as if the emotional repercussions are becoming heavier and heavier. I don’t know.
